So it turns out, All roads lead here!
So it turns out, All roads lead here!
If you’d told me 15 years ago that there was more important work for a PT than the signature legs and abs you might of associated with ‘Koach Katie’ in my bikini fitness era, I wouldn’t of believed it. I mean, I did it and I did it well, as far as i’m aware. That was the goal. But still, it turns out it wasn’t thedestination.
The thing is, we know getting fit has a plethora of benefits. Confidence, weight loss, mental wellbeing and coding your body for ‘health’, being some of the most desirable outcomes.
There are many times in life when we need a kick start, or a companion on this journey to help get it right. For that, I was your girl.
However, what i’d misjudged, was the exponential life change that we all, as women, come to in our 40’s, if not sooner.
So why still the confusion around perimenopause and menopause? How, in a day of online knowledge, bio hacking and wellness trends, does perimenopause still hit most like a car crash when we really least expect it? Then what do we do with it? Its nothing short of a liberty, I say.
-We are taught puberty in school.
-Detailed insights into our reproductive years, served in informative chapters in biology.
-But the next phase, Perimenopause and Menopause; nothing. I’m pretty certain it didn’t get a mention.
With the average life expectancy of a UK woman at 83 and Perimenopause 45, we spend almost HALF OUR LIVES going through Perimenopause (up to 10 years) and Menopause (The forever after). So why the secrecy?
Is it the link to age that we are all afraid of? Whisper it and it comes true?!
Or was it simply that 150 years ago we might of made it to our early 60’s at best, so who cared if the back end of the job was blighted withbroken bones andheart disease, we probably weren’t making it todementiaanyway.
Now we know different. Yes this is a life phase that is hallmarked by symptoms on the journey in,but,I’ll be damned if its not the half of life we’ve earned the right to enjoy ourselves in the most.
So how do we gain agency over the inevitable hormonal shift that is coming? (or has just been). Well thats where I come in. The road was leading me here without me realising it also.
Our biggest longevity hack is EXERCISE. Muscle is the elixir that will get us through (no, i’m not talking body building proportions) and nutrition is the benchmark for a smooth transition that no one is talking about. It’s no surprise then, that the many women who did my ‘6 Week Bikini Programme’ in this life phase back in the day felt lighter, relieved. They were the foundations, after all.
Now though,I understand, there are layers.
My goal is to update you regularly with a snippet of my latest findings.
Wether it be that new hack, workout, supportive recipe or coping tool. Or just a story to make you laugh at the injustice of it all (I allude to the male half of the population). Never has it been more obvious thatwe are all in it together.
So lets share the load.
